Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Scott Aussie Tourism Marketing collects through this website, why, and what happens to it.
What we collect
We collect information in three ways.
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, email address, business or organisation, which of our two audiences best describes you, and your message. Your name and email are required; the rest is optional.
When you subscribe
Two forms on this site collect an email address so we can send you something: a newsletter of new articles, and a one-off notification when our benchmark report is published. Both require you to tick a box before you can submit, and neither is ticked for you.
We record your email address, the exact wording of the consent you agreed to, the date and time, and which page you subscribed from. We keep the wording because it can change over time, and a record that you agreed to something nobody kept a copy of is not much of a record.
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. One click, no questions, and it takes effect immediately.
When you browse
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use the site — pages viewed, roughly where visitors are, what device they use, and which links they click. This is aggregate reporting; we do not use it to identify individuals.
What we do with it
- Contact form submissions are emailed to Andy Burns and stored in this website's database, so an enquiry is not lost if the email fails.
- The audience answer routes your enquiry so it arrives with the right context.
- Subscriber email addresses are stored in this website's database and sent to Brevo, the platform we use to send email. See "Third parties" below.
- Analytics data is used to improve the site.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
- We do not add you to a mailing list because you used the contact form. Subscribing is a separate, deliberate action with its own tick box.
- We do not use the benchmark-report list to send you the newsletter, or the other way round. You asked for one thing and that is the thing you get.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for analytics, and a consent banner that records your cookie preferences. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the consent control on the site, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Third parties
These are the services that receive information from this website.
- Brevo — our email platform. Receives the email address of anyone who subscribes, and sends the emails. Brevo is based in France, so subscriber email addresses are stored and processed outside Australia.
- Google (Analytics 4, via Google Site Kit) — website analytics.
- Google Workspace — delivers enquiry notifications to us.
- Google Calendar — used for the booking link, if you choose to book a call.
- WP Engine — hosts the website and its database.
We do not send your information anywhere else.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept while they are commercially relevant and then deleted. Subscriber addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, after which they are removed from our sending list. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email andy@scottaussie.com and we will respond within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
