For operators

Marketing Health Check

For operators who know something is not working but cannot tell which part. A fixed-scope audit of everything bringing you guests, and everything quietly leaking them.

The problem this solves

You are spending on marketing. Some of it works. You cannot say which. The website was built three years ago by someone who has since gone quiet, the Google listing is half-filled, the ads have been running on the same settings since they were set up, and the enquiry form may or may not be reaching your inbox.

Meanwhile the OTA commission goes out every month like clockwork, and the direct bookings that would replace it never quite arrive.

A health check answers the question you actually have: where is the money going, what is it buying, and what would I fix first?

An empty dining terrace set for service, tables laid and waiting.

Start here, at no cost

First, the free scorecard

Before you pay us anything, we will score your marketing out of 100 across four areas and send you the result. It uses only what is publicly visible, so it needs no passwords, no account access and nothing from you but the name of your business.

  • Website and bookability — is there a real site, does it load quickly on a phone, is it secure, and can somebody actually book?
  • Get found — Google Business Profile, ATDW and the directories that feed Tourism WA and australia.com
  • Social — whether it is active, and whether any channel you link to from your own site is a graveyard
  • Reviews and reputation — how many, what rating, and how many are sitting unanswered

Each area gets a score, the findings behind it, and one thing to fix. Where we cannot see something from outside we say so rather than guessing — every finding is marked as measured, provisional or not assessed.

Plenty of operators take the scorecard, fix the obvious things themselves and never speak to us again. That is a perfectly good outcome.

Then, the paid health check

Everything above is free and needs nothing from you but the name of your business. The health check needs your keys, and that is the whole difference. Same four areas — but the scorecard can only see what is visible from the street.

In full, the health check includes:

  • The same four scores, so you can see exactly what changed and keep score over time
  • Full review of your website — speed, mobile, booking path, and whether the enquiry form actually reaches your inbox
  • Google Business Profile audit, including how people are finding you and what they searched for
  • ATDW and directory presence — whether you are listed where Tourism WA, australia.com and the regional bodies pull their content from
  • Reviews and reputation — volume, rating, how fast you respond, and how you compare with the operators you sit beside
  • Review of every paid channel currently running, with what it costs per enquiry
  • Social media and email review — reach, engagement, and whether either is producing bookings
  • Direct-versus-OTA mix, and where the realistic recovery is
  • A written report with a prioritised fix list — what to do first, what it will cost, what it should return
  • A one-hour call to walk you through it, recorded so you can share it with your team
  • A fortnight of follow-up questions by email once you have read it

Typical timeline

Two to three weeks from kick-off to the walkthrough call. Longer than a brand-only audit for a reason: the paid channel and direct-versus-OTA analysis needs a full month of data behind it, and reading a week of it would tell you nothing you could act on. We need read access to your analytics, ad accounts and Google Business Profile — no passwords change hands.

What it costs

From $950 + GST.

Fixed scope, agreed before we start, so the number does not move. If you go on to work with us within three months, the full fee comes off that engagement — so for an operator who continues, the health check effectively costs nothing. And if we go through all of it and the honest answer is that your marketing is working and there is nothing worth fixing, you do not pay: we send the report anyway and refund the fee in full.

870 searches, and most were not looking for them

The Deitos Winery engagement started with exactly this kind of look at what was actually happening. The finding that shaped everything after it: of 870 searches that surfaced the business in six months, 567 were for the generic term “winery”. Most people finding them were not looking for them — they were looking for somewhere to go.

Common questions

What is the difference between the free scorecard and this?

Access. The scorecard measures what anyone outside your business can see — your site, your listings, your public reviews. The health check needs your keys: analytics, ad accounts and Google Business Profile insights. Cost per enquiry, your direct-versus-OTA split, and whether your email actually produces bookings cannot be seen from the outside at all.

What do I get at the end?

A written report with the four scores, the findings behind them and a prioritised fix list, plus a recorded one-hour call walking you through it. The report is yours — if you want to hand it to another agency, or do the work yourself, that is a perfectly good outcome.

Do I have to work with you afterwards?

No. The health check is a fixed-scope piece of work that stands on its own. Plenty of operators take the report and act on it themselves. The fee only comes off a later engagement if you choose to start one.

What access do you need?

Read access to Google Analytics, Google Business Profile, any ad accounts, and your website admin. We use delegated access rather than shared passwords, and it is withdrawn the day the work finishes.

Is this useful if my marketing is basically fine?

Sometimes the honest answer is "this is working, leave it alone and spend the money on staff". We will tell you that if it is true — and if that is our conclusion, we refund the fee in full and you keep the report. The free scorecard usually settles the question before you spend anything at all.

Do you work with operators outside the South West?

Yes. We are based in Manjimup and work across Western Australia. Most of a health check happens in the data; the walkthrough is a call.
