Tourism Rockingham — from stalled and running at a loss to a strengthened revenue base

Tourism Rockingham · 2018–2024

The situation

By 2018 the organisation had stalled. Growth had flattened, it was running at a loss, the website was dated and social media was not engaging the local industry.

How the engagement worked

Andy served on the Tourism Rockingham board from 2018, stepping away from the board in 2021 when engaged as a contractor. At the conclusion of the contract he was invited back onto the board, where he served until 2024.

What we did

  • Hands-on marketing for the organisation
  • Day-to-day management of the visitor centre
  • Oversight of the website redevelopment project
  • Member engagement across the local tourism industry
  • Grew booking commission revenue from accommodation providers
  • Contributed to securing fee-for-service agreements with the City of Rockingham

The result

  • Revenue base strengthened through new fee-for-service agreements with the City of Rockingham and increased accommodation booking commissions
  • Website redeveloped and digital presence modernised
  • Invited back onto the board at the conclusion of the contract

Andy's involvement with Tourism Rockingham ran for six years, across the board table and then working directly for the organisation. He took on our marketing and the visitor centre at a point when we needed real change, oversaw the rebuild of our website, and helped put us on a much firmer financial footing through our accommodation members and our relationship with the City. When his contract finished, we asked him back onto the board — that says most of what needs saying.
