# Brand Development

*For operators*

> Positioning, logo suite, palette and written guidelines for WA tourism and hospitality businesses. Built to work on a menu, a roadside sign and a phone.

For operators launching something new, or carrying a brand that no longer matches what the business has become.

## The problem this solves

A tourism brand has to survive being printed at the size of a thumbnail on a booking site, blown up on a roadside sign, embroidered on a shirt, and photographed badly by a guest at night. Most brands built cheaply survive exactly one of those.

The other failure is subtler: the business grew, the offer changed, and the brand stayed where it was. The cellar door that now does events. The caravan park that now has cabins. The logo still says what you used to be.

This is the work that makes everything after it cheaper — because every website, sign and post stops being an argument about what the business looks like.

## What's included

- Positioning — who it is for, what it promises, and what it deliberately is not
- Name and naming architecture where that is in scope
- Logo suite, including the versions you will actually need: reversed, single-colour, and small
- Colour palette with contrast checked for accessibility, not just chosen because it looked nice
- Typography, with licensing sorted so you are not exposed later
- Written brand guidelines covering voice as well as visuals
- Application to your first real touchpoints — signage, menus, vehicle, social templates

## Typical timeline

Six to ten weeks depending on scope, with two structured rounds of feedback. Naming work adds two to three weeks for availability checks.

## What it costs

From $2,000 + GST.

That covers the identity and a written set of rules for using it, so the brand still holds together when someone else is making a poster. What moves the number is how much already exists and is worth keeping, and whether you need naming as well as design. If you have had a Marketing Health Check, its fee comes off this.

## A brand built from nothing, ahead of a first market

> We were starting completely from scratch — no brand, no website, no way for stallholders to even apply. Andy built the lot: our brand guidelines and logos, a website that's easy for us to keep updated, and an online application system that's saved us an enormous amount of work. Heading into our first market, we look like an established event rather than a first-timer.

The Manjimup Farmers Market brand was built from nothing — guidelines, logo suite and wordmarks — ahead of the market's first event.

## Common questions

### Do I get the source files?

Yes. Vector originals, every colourway, and the guidelines document. They are yours outright.

### Can you work with our existing logo?

Often, yes. A refresh that keeps the equity you have built is usually a better answer than starting again, and it costs less. We will say which we think you need.

### How many rounds of changes are included?

Two structured rounds. Unlimited rounds sound generous and produce worse work — they remove the pressure to make a decision.

### Can you handle the printing and signage too?

Yes, through a separate business. Southern Forests Design + Print is also owned by Andy and works out of Manjimup, doing the commercial printing, signage and labels for this region. If that suits you we brief it, and the work is quoted and invoiced by SFDP rather than by us. If you already have a printer you like, we prepare artwork to their spec and work with them instead. Either way we do not add an agency margin to print — you pay what the printer charges, not what the printer charges plus a percentage.

### What if we need it faster?

Tell us the date. If it is not achievable properly we will say so rather than deliver something thin to hit a deadline.
